The Ronin 2L Jacket features Storm-Lite 5.0-A laminated shell fabric, the pinnacle performance fabric of all the Storm-Lite material (20,000 mm./20,000 gm.). That alone could justify the price being a little higher than similar jackets, but Burton threw in an adjustable Crossflow Venting system that helps keep you cool without introducing a lot of extra moisture beneath the durable fabric exterior. The Ronin 2L Jacket features advanced Active Lining System (ALS) insulation that's thermally mapped to give you more insulation where you need it and more breathable vapor transfer in the places that tend to run a little hot. ALS uses a closed-cell mesh design in the spots where you tend to feel cold, but you'll find macro mesh in the hot places like your armpits.
